Overview
Edward Newgate, more commonly known as "Whitebeard", was the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and was widely known as the "Strongest Man in the World" and, after Gol D. Roger's death, the "Man Closest to One Piece". Whitebeard is an important character from the long running anime/manga, One Piece; he first appears in Volume 25 Chapter 234 of the One Piece manga. Every so often, he will kneel down and cough blood, giving the player a 15 second timer to do double the damage to him during this time period, which is indicated by Whitebeard being surrounded by a red aura and the words 'Vulnerable: (Time)' above him. This will happen randomly and after the time period is over, he will gain invincibility frames and stand up once again, ready to onslaught the player(s) once more. Whitebeard also is the first raid boss added to AUT.

Appearance
Whitebeard appears as a man of tall stature, his height at least 3 players tall. He wears baggy leaf green pants and classic black boots, with a cloth belt and a cape bearing his crew symbol and embroidered in gold. He wields the great Bisento, and is covered in scars. On his head he wears a bandana and a white mustache shapes like a cresent moon, and a face of determination to slay the ones who dare defend the Marines.
Spawn Location
Whitebeard spawns at Marineford. every 3 hours globally as a raid boss (12am EST, 3am EST, 6am EST, 9am EST, etc ). He has hyperarmour, cannot be grabbed, ragdolled or stunned. Upon reaching half health, he will activate Haoshoku Haki, stunning players in a massive radius for 10 seconds and gaining a 15% damage buff and 25% damage reduction.
Trivia
- Whitebeard uses abilities from his devil fruit the Gura Gura no Mi
- When the update first came out, Whitebeard only dropped the Bisento to the highest damage dealer. That however has changed, and now anyone who has done at least a threshold of his health can have a chance to receive the Bisento.
- Whitebeard is the first raid boss that was added to AUT, and also considered the hardest boss in the game to date.
- Whitebeard cannot be affected by any cutscene, domain, or stun move in game, thus abilities that require the use of domain expansion, such as Gojo, are useless against him. Trying to use your domain will have you and other players be trapped inside it while Whitebeard stays in Marineford.
- Whitebeard alongside every other NPC has a chance to spawn with a trait potentially making the fight against him even harder.
- Whitebeard's conqueror's haki that he releases at half hp can cancel uncancellable moves mid-cast like Shadow's "I am atomic."
- Whitebeard's conqueror's haki use to heal him a quarter of his max hp when used. This was removed in a later patch.
- Whitebeard has gone through some of the most individual buffs, nerfs and patches out of every boss of the New Universe.
